Bio

Hanalei SUP Founder Jana Rife started practicing yoga as a way to help improve her flexibility, as well as relieve stress and anxiety. After falling in love with this exercise, she earned her teacher training certification in order to help others experience yoga for themselves. Not wanting to limit herself to sharing just one of her loves with students, Jana also earned her certification as a paddleboard instructor. Because of the potential dangers that come with any type of water activity, she also maintains a certification in CPR, first-aid, and AED from the American Heart Association.

Jana is also a certified aromatherapist with more than 20 years of experience, is a member of the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy, is a Board Director for the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild, and is a creator of Hanalei Bath. She has studied under some of the leading experts in the field, including Gabriel Mojay of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists, Mark Webb of AromaMedix, and Roz Zollinger of Heal Center Atlanta. Jana uses her aromatherapy expertise as part of her yoga classes to incorporate a sensory experience for her students by using essential oils and also teaches aromatherapy workshops.

  • 200-hour (E-RYT) Yoga Teacher Training Certification registered with Yoga Alliance
  • SUP Yoga Certification from Lazy Dog Paddle Yoga in Key West, FL
  • World Paddle Association Class II Instructor Certification
